Bampton is a picturesque and thriving small townm situated close to Exmoor
National Park, yet within 20 minutes drive of the M5 and the mainline
London to Penzance railway line.
The centre of Bampton is a conservation area, where there
are many interesting ancient buildings, all of which lend a unique character
to the town. The wide main street is particularly attractive and provides
a superb range of local and personally run shops and services, catering
for the majority of everyday needs. For a greater variety of facilities,
Tiverton, Exeter and Taunton are all within easy driving distance.
Bampton is particularly proud of its record in the Britain
in Bloom contests, and every year the town is superbly decorated by the
inhabitants with a splendid display of brightly coloured flowers, enhancing
the already pretty streets and buildings.
The proximity of Bampton to the Exmoor National Park makes
it ideal for those who are keen to pursue an outdoor lifestyle. There
are no end of opportunities for walking, sailing, canoeing, fishing, cycling
and horse riding in the surrounding areas. In addition, there are superb
indoor and outdoor sports facilities in Tiverton, where there is a recently
constructed swimming pool and leisure centre.
Location & Directions
Take the A396 from Tiverton towards Bampton and follow this for about
4.5 miles. At the Exeter Inn roundabout take the second exit and follow
the road for approximately half a mile.The entrance to Scott’s will be
found on the left hand side of the road.
