Situated on the fringe of the picturesque Devon village of Whimple, The Paddock is located just a few hundred metres from the "Hand and Pen", one of the gateways to Whimple. 

Whimple boasts two charming local pubs and an historic parish church.  There is also a post office and general stores, whilst a more extensive range of shops can be found in Ottery St Mary, less than 5 miles away.   There are further facilities and leisure activities in Exeter, which is an easy 20 minute drive from The Paddock, or the old market town of Honiton, which is about 8 miles eastwards.  Whimple has a well regarded local primary school, and secondary education is well catered for by The King’s School in nearby Ottery St Mary, or there are a number of excellent schools in Exeter.

Whilst Whimple is a quiet village in rural surroundings, road and rail links are particularly good.  The railway station in Whimple village centre is on the main intercity route from Exeter to London Waterloo, and there is easy road access to the A30 and the M5.
