Planning Permission Granted at Landkey for new Devonshire Homes Development

12 April 2017

Local independent house builder Devonshire Homes has acquired almost twelve acres of land for a new homes development in Landkey, near Barnstaple

Detailed planning permission was granted by North Devon District Council to Devonshire Homes for a residential scheme of 77 homes. The development, named Mazzard View, will offer a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and includes an affordable homes contribution.

Devonshire Homes will be working together with Housing Growth Partnership (HGP) who are an investor in the development. HGP are a social impact investor backed by Lloyds Bank and the Homes Communities Agency who provide support to regional residential developers to enable sustainable growth of their businesses and increase the number of new homes produced in the UK.

Devonshire Homes Chairman, Daniel Stephenson, commented:

“It’s an exciting year for Devonshire Homes as we strengthen our relationship with HGP. The development at Mazzard View follows the success of our partnership in Cullompton at Rivel’s Green. HGP’s support has been important in helping Devonshire Homes grow and develop in the region. We look forward to delivering high quality homes at Mazzard View, that are stylish, practical and sympathetic to their locality.”

Daniel continued:

“We have now received detailed planning permission for the site and are busy putting in place our plans to begin construction this Spring. We will initially open a temporary Marketing Suite followed by a show home before the end of the year and prospective homeowners can visit our website to register their interest now.”

The village of Landkey is located adjacent to the A361, just three miles from Barnstaple, which offers good road and rail connectivity and a selection of  independent boutiques, shops and restaurants.

As part of the planning permission and under the S106, various contributions are to be made which include: £429,391 towards education; £200,000 towards bus service contributions, £125,000 towards improvements to the A361 junction and the development of a Multi Use Games Area.

Andy Hulme, Chief Executive Officer of HGP, added:

“We are delighted to have assisted Devonshire Homes on the acquisition and development of Mazzard View; through extending our relationship to support a second project we are enabling this well regarded Devon housebuilder to grow. Given Devonshire Homes’ approach to aligning their new homes proposition to best serve the local North Devon communities where they operate we anticipate Mazzard View will be another high quality project which will be attractive to families who want to live in the local Landkey community."
