Devonshire Homes are delighted to has been successful in being invited to bid for an allocation from The Homes and Communities Agent (HCA)

as part of the Get Britain Building programme for the former Belmont Hospital in Tiverton.

From an initial 170 expressions of interest submissions the HCA has proposed 18 schemes which can deliver 1,300 new homes through-out the country.  Total funding as announced by the Government in November, is to the value of £420 million.  Of this £46 million could be allocated for the proposed 18 schemes including Belmont Hospital.

Colin Moulton, HCA Chief executive director. South and South West said: "The Get Britain Building Programme will see more homes being delivered and progress being made on important local projects throughout the South West"

"Our partners have once again demonstrated their appetite to get Britain building by developing much needed new homes and generating additional benefits through economic growth and activity"

On successful completion of the due diligence and signing of contracts Devonshire Homes would be in a position to start work on the former Belmont Hospital site which has stood empty for a number of years.  The funding would enable 30 homes to be provided and includes refurbishing a number of listed building; the scheme is confirmed as a Devon Local Investment Plan priority.  It is the tops named site for Mid Devon District.

Paul Land, Managing Director for Devonshire Homes said: "We are delighted to have been invited to proceed to the next stage and are looking forward to once again working in partnership with the HCA"

Land and Planning Director, Steve Russell added: "Belmont Hospital is an exciting development and the allocation is good news for Tiverton as the development will provide much needed housing for both the private and affordable sectors"
