Devonshire Homes sponsors Everest Climb

Devonshire Homes have support Everest Climb and raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Local Man Paul Netley, completed an opportunity of a lifetime - Paul along with 28 other intrepid walkers, took up the challenge of trekking through the homelands of Sherpa people to reach Everest Base Camp.
The trek took 14 days to complete and although 28 started only 24 finished this gruelling expedition. Paul had to overcome many hazards including altitude sickness and snow blizzards - the trek took place during the coldest March on record with temperatures plummeting to minus 28 degrees C. Although the team took 11 days to get up to Base Camp it only took 3 days to get back down again - on his way up the mountain, Paul was amazed to 'bump' into 2 people who live just down the road from him!
Of his trek Paul said "Both my father and my father-in-law died from heart attacks and this has been the inspiration for me to complete this walk and to raise as much money for this worthy cause. This has been a fantastic experience. I would also like to say a big thank you to Devonshire Homes Ltd, for their very generous sponsorship of £500"
