Successful first consultation as plans launched for Landkey site

Over 180 people attended an initial consultation event, held on Wednesday 17 November, to view the initial proposals for the development of land adjacent to Birch Road and Acland Road, Landkey.

The exhibition, which took place at Landkey village hall, provided the local community with the opportunity to view and comment on the plans.  This event will form part of an ongoing community consultation programme that Devonshire Homes will be conducting in order to help inform its proposals.

The award winning developer outlined that this site could be developed with a mix of private and affordable new homes, employment uses and supporting community facilities.

Steve Russell, Devonshire Homes' Land and Planning Director, who is responsible for the project said:

"The event proved very successful with an excellent turn out from the local community.  Devonshire Homes places a large emphasis on community consultation and we were delighted to be able to show our initial thoughts for the site and listen to the various opinions held.

"I was very pleased to have many conversations with local residents, which helped us to understand the needs of the local community and the supporting facilities required."

"As a result of this event we were able to gain lots of invaluable feedback.  We will now review all the comments received, which will play a key role in shaping these proposals further.

"I would like to thank people for attending, and look forward to holding our second consultation event in the future.  However, if in the meantime anyone has further questions, then they can always call our free phone information line 0800 298 7040 and talk to a member of the project team."

Norman Tucker, the land owner, who attended the exhibition , said;

"I felt that this was an extremely beneficial event, with an excellent turnout.  I am pleased that Devonshire Homes is committed to engaging with the community, to ensure that these proposals can really be developed so that they will be an asset to the area.  I encourage all residents to provide feedback if they haven't already done so."
